Month in Review: July

Hi Guys,

I'm only doing this month's review for the sake of keeping on track. I watched barely any movies this month. Like, really, so few.

Number of Movies Seen: 7. Yes, seven. This is the least I've watched in a month this year, and I just hope it never gets fewer than this... I happen to like watching movies! A lot of movies.
New vs. Re-Watches: 3 out of 7 were re-watches.

3 Favorite Movies: The Great Man's Lady (1942), Illicit (1931), and Brief Encounter (1945). Note: Illicit was only good because Missy was the most adorable ever and I didn't adore Brief Encounter but I did really like it.

Least Favorite Movie: Uhh... Either You Were Never Lovlier or Nice Girl? As much as I love the stars in both of those movies, I found them both rather boring.

Movie I Will Recommend to Everyone: Double Indemnity (1944). Go. All of You. Watch it now. Then tell me if you are or are not on Barbara Stanwyck's team at the end. Note: Both, The Country Girl and Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House are to be reviewed as soon as possible, which may or may not still be a while as I'm super busy at the moment.

Favorite Leads: Barbara Stanwyck and Joel McCrea. Always Babs and Mr. McCrea - they're just too adorable.

A New-To-Me Actress Worth Noting: Deanna Durbin. No, Deanna is not new to me. Yes, she was one of them first stars I purposely searched out movies for. But yes I still want to finish her filmography.

A New-To-Me Actor Worth Noting: Franchot Tone. Again, yes, I've seen a few, but I want to see more because I actually do like him.

Most Watched Actress: Barbara Stanwyck (three movies)

Most Watched Actor: N/A

Until Later On ~

P.S. If you left me a comment at any time in the last week and care about my reply... I just replied to all of them. Nice of me, wasn't it?

  1. Really, you didn't like "Nice Girl?"? I thought that was a good movie! However, I didn't much care for Double Indemnity.

    1. Go. Away. [Only don't cuz we're friends and all]. I thought NG? was good movie, but boring as heck. On the other hand DI is perfect and you need to leave. [Only as I mentioned before, not, because you're me amigo].

    2. Opposite for me. (Kind of.) DI was boring and NG? was pretty funny. And fine! I'll just storm out of your blog door! (Only I won't because then I'd miss you.) And I know I should like DI...but I just can't bring myself to. Just think: at least I don't hate it. I would watch it again if it was life or death situation. Or if my other option(s) weren't good at all.

    4. FINE. I WILL. (Except for I wouldn't have any place to go anyway...) Well can I safely say it's my least favorite Missy film? I mean, I like almost every other film of hers!

    5. GOOD! (Yeah, see you just need to stay here with me in Stanwyck Appreciation World). And, yeah, that's okay. I dislike some Missy movies. Note: We need to talk about BoF in one of our conversations. XD

  2. Franchot Tone was the reason Bette Davis and Joan Crawford started fighting! I'm so fascinated by their feud, maybe I should look into this guy :)
