Five Favorite Couples: Real Life

Hiya guys!

I've wanted to do one of these lists for a long time, but have never gotten around to it, until now obviously. Sometime soon I hope to have a favorite onscreen couples list done, but it will be harder to compile since I love so many couples of the big screen. Anyway, here goes nothing:
>>>>

Honorable Mention: Desilu [Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz]
And we blame my love for them on Rianna. They were absolutely adorable, though - and despite their divorce, I don't think anyone doubts that they loved each other until they days they died.
“We were so excitingly in love. All my jewelry was marked ‘To Lucy’ on one side, and ‘Love, Desi’ on the other. Around his neck Desi wore a gold Saint Christopher’s medal marked “Darling”, and he carried a gold lighter engraved ‘Dear Desi, my love for you will last longer than this lighter, I betcha, Lucy'" -Lucille Ball

5. Ray and Mal [Ray and Muriel Milland]

Maybe Ray wasn't the most faithful husband in Hollywood [he actually admits it quite frankly in his autobiography], but I do not doubt that he was absolutely in love with Muriel. And I reckon she liked him too.

"I never heard her name because my world suddenly stood still and I felt completely lost. The room was empty and there was just her, tall, with dark hair with some silver in it and eyes that were truly sapphire." - Ray Milland
 4. Shearberg [Norma Shearer and Irving Thalberg]

THEM. He died in '36, but she loved him 'til she died. From what I hear, when she was dying (in and out of a coma) she would say to everyone, "Are you Irving? Were we married?" *and I weep*Anyhow, absotively adorable were they.
A telegram from Irving to Norma reads: "Dearest cutest sweetness darling angel bunny hope you have missed me as I have missed you Love Papa."
 3. Ma and Pa [Carole Lombard and Clark Gable]
The Gables. Oh how I love them. And to think she gave him a ham with his face on it while they were making "No Man of her Own". I tend to think of them as "not the marrying kind", especially Clark, but they were perfect for each other, no doubt - they just look so happy.
"During the next few months, we saw Clark tearing around the valley on a motorcycle at top speed. I used to suspect that he was subconciously trying to kill himself. Clark would come to a screeching stop at our doorstep and come in to talk about Carole by the hour. Sometimes he would bring one of her films over in the evening and we would watch her for a couple of hours. I could never tell whether Clark was deliberetely torturing himself, or whether the sight an sound of Carole, so vital and lovely, helped erase at least momentarily the pain of losing her." - Lucille Ball

2. Jimmy and Gloria [James Stewart and Gloria Hatrick]

I am definitely more jealous of Gloria Stewart than I am of any other woman who is alive now or who ever lived. James Stewart was an angelic husband. They were adorable, but it breaks my heart that when Gloria died Jimmy never made another public appearance - he was just waiting for his turn to die.

I think it would be true to say that Jim actually has gone out of his way many times to be particularly attentive to me. The more beautiful and glamorous his leading lady was, the more attention he paid to me. I asked him once why he did that, and he said, ‘Because I want you to never feel anything less than the most special thing in my life.’” - Gloria Stewart

1. Bob and Missy [Barbara Stanwyck and Robert Taylor]

Surprise! Then again, I don't think anyone doubts that I love these two. And no one (and I mean, no one) will ever be able to convince me that these do didn't love each other. She never married again, he was the love of her life - he married again, I still think she was the love of his life.

“Bob and I haven’t any plans except for being together as much as possible… I’m interested in everything Bob does, as he is in everything I’m doing…Perfect happiness. No plans… You don’t make plans when things are perfect as they are. Why should you? You don’t want to change anything.” - Barbara Stanwyck

Until Later On~

    1. I agree, I always get a little upset when I read about Clark and Carole. He seemed soo in love with her and never really got over her death.

    1. Glad you liked it! And, haha, of course Bob and Missy. Some people don't like them as a couple - I am not one of those people.
