Another Awesome Person Post, this one requested by one of my most faithful followers, Cheryl:
I've only seen one Gene Tierney movie, Laura (1944), which I remember liking.
And I really want to see Leave Her To Heaven, I think that's the one where she plays a maniacal murderess... What?! No, I definitely do not have a morbid side.
I think this one is the portrait of her from Laura, which was a photograph touched up with oil paint in reality.
Until Later On~
P.S. I only have one person left on my list of APP requests, so please request someone, or so help me I will do a massive Stanwyck spam session! But, like I've mentioned before, that would not necessarily be a bad thing...

I chose her as one of my actresses to watch in 2012; I've seen like only two of her movies so far but I think I'm going to like her! Definitely definitely see Leave Her to Heaven, I absolutely ADORED it, Gene's just utterly devilish in it. ;) Okay, I have an APP request: Deborah Kerr? :)
ReplyDeleteUtterly devilish, huh? I think I'll enjoy this... ;) And OF COURSE Deborah Kerr! She's on the list now.
DeleteThank you for posting these pictures. She is lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! She is rather cute, isn't she?
DeleteSixth picture down: proof she was just as adorable toned down as she was glammed up. Great post!
ReplyDeleteAPP request, hmm? How about the inspiration for my profile pic: Miss Elsa Lanchester, the Bride of Frankenstein herself.
Amen to that. And glad you liked it! Elsa Lanchester? Why not?! She's on the list too now.
DeleteExcellent, thank you! Can't wait.
DeleteAPP request:
ReplyDeleteTyrone Power
Just put him on the list!
DeleteJust 'cause I'm halfway through her filmography and can't seem to get enough of her, I'm gonna request miss Stanwyck ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, the very handsome and very awesome, George Brent.
You know what? I have NO problem making Missy an awesome person for one day! I do it gladly.
DeleteAnd, yes, one of her most frequent co-stars is now on the list as well.
Speaking of Barbara, did you read the biography that was released this year about her (written by Dan Callahan)? If so, what did you think of it? Is it worth the read?
DeleteNo, I have not read the whole thing, but I think the people I know who have read it didn't think it was the greatest. I've read a few bits and pieces of it and what I read I didn't like, honestly.
DeleteA picture post of Gene Tierney is always welcome.
ReplyDeleteAPP request: Thelma Ritter
Glad you liked it!
DeleteOoh! Thelma Ritter, for sure!
I've never seen a bad photo of Gene. You really should see more of her films-she's just great!
ReplyDeleteI nominate Greer Garson!
YES, YES, YES, Greer Garson! Gorgeous child is going on the list.
DeleteBlogger needs a 'LIKE' button. For this comment and the following one!! :)
DeleteBlogger really, really, really needs a 'LIKE' button for comments - even one of those little hearts, you know, like on Tumblr...
DeleteI too have only ever seen Laura although I never realized how truly BREATHTAKING Gene Tierney was! In terms of APP: I always throw out my favorite actress, Ms. Natalie Wood
ReplyDeleteOf course, just too pleased to do a post about Natalie. :)
DeleteOoh, Gene! One of my favorite actresses, and I absolutely adore the photos you picked for her - thanks Natalie! ;)
ReplyDeleteDavid.
You're Welcome! Glad you liked it, David.
DeleteJust found your blog today & thrilled to find an old soul like me! Being a Generation X'r...it's hard to find others that know who or what I'm talking about when I say things like "I just saw Gene Tierney in Leave Her To Heaven & it was amazing!!!" Consider me a new fan!! Great blog & it looks like I'll be spending hours here reading your archieves!
ReplyDeleteAh, well, always glad to have a new fan! Do hope you enjoy yourself. :)
DeleteWhile I read your blogs faithfully, I need to comment more often. But anyway, Where/how do I make an APP request?
ReplyDeleteNo worries, I'm just glad to know you read them! And, you can message me however you want, but most people just leave a comment on one of my posts. :D
DeleteOkay, thanks (and I can't remember how I got my pic to show up when posting without starting a google blogger account--sorry)! Requesting Edward Arnold and Jean Arthur!
Delete:) Alright! Two of my favorites.
